Relationship Violence

“Abuse is not a slap, a punch, or a curse.  Abuse is a campaign.  A vigorous, concerted effort to accomplish a purpose.”

What is it? A process of imbalanced power maintained by a pattern of coercive and controlling tactics which places an individual with whom there is a past or present intimate relationship in fear.

Does an abusive relationship always include physical violence?

NO.

Abusive Relationships do not consist of singular or isolated events, and do not always include physical violence.  Abusive Relationships consist of a set of events, often characterized by their multi-faceted nature and their presence in a cycle.
