SIS Tables for Limited Staff Access

The Undergraduate department was cautious about us reading, updating and generally using the SIS tables directly. Their concern lay mostly in tables that were shared between the both of us. The Graduate School was told that all access to SIS tables for alternate employees must pass through them first from now on.

All new users that do not need full, exploratory access to the SIS will be given access to the limited group of tables.

Yvette Mosie-Ross had Ralph Caretti come and study our Access databases and Crystal Reports with ODBC links to the SIS. These tables are granted as part of the Grad School SIS role.

Process for getting Staff Access to SIS Oracle Tables

  1. Send a request to helpdesk requesting VPN Business Systems access
  2. Send a request to the Director of Undergraduate Admissions 1), getting approval for the Oracle access
  3. Send a request to helpdesk requesting the Oracle Access. An example of this request is below:
“Please provide Grad School SIS access in Oracle to new user <user>2)
1) currently Yvette Mosie-Ross and Ralph Caretti
2) Where <user> is the official UMBC ID of the person. This is ussually their original, non-aliased, email address without the @umbc.edu at the end
