This project involves the development of surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)-based molecular beacons for the multiplexed, intracellular monitoring of oligonucleotide sequences (e.g., mRNA, DNA, etc.).  By employing SERS as the transduction mechanism for these nanosensors, it is possible to simultaneously monitor a large number (i.e., > 20) of sequences.
