JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Internal Audit department, located in downtown Baltimore, is currently seeking a paid, Summer 2007 Intern for their Financial and Operation audit group.

The qualified candidate will be responsible for the following: assisting Senior Auditors in the performance of audit test work; assisting Senior Auditors in identifying areas of recommendations; and conducting day-to-day Internal Audit activities. Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in an accounting or auditing career and should be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Information Technology. Coursework in Auditing and Intermediate Accounting is required, and Information Systems/Technology experience is a plus. This person must have proficiency in MS Word and Excel, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong analytical skills, and an inquisitive nature. Interns must also be able to commute to our downtown Baltimore location several times per week as a time commitment of 35 hours per week is expected. EOE.

Service Learning Opportunities

Two highly competitive positions are being offered to students majoring in Science and Math at UMBC for the spring 2007 semester. Please do not delay in applying, as the deadline January 31, 2007 is soon approaching.

POSITION #1: VIP K-16 Classroom Fellow

Earn a $1,000 Stipend, plus $100 for travel, by participating as a Fellow through the Vertically Integrated Partnership K-16 (VIP K-16)
Project. VIP K-16-- funded through the National Science Foundation--is a partnership between the University System of Maryland and Montgomery County Public High Schools.

UMBC Undergraduate students majoring in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math are welcome to participate in the upcoming Spring 2007 Fellowship.

The time commitment consists of seven to eight hours a week in a
Montgomery County Public High School classroom. The fellowship will last the entire Fall semester. Students accepted will receive a notation on their transcript.

High school teachers are currently looking for Chemistry Undergraduates to work with Advanced Placement Chemistry high school students, math tutors, students with a special interest in horticulture and/or landscaping, students that know GIS, students with a special interest in geology and astronomy, and students with an interest in English/literature to help tutor or edit student's rough drafts.

Deadline for applying is January 31, 2007. Please find attached a bit
