Women’s Basketball Claims First-Ever America East Regular-Season Title
The UMBC women’s basketball team (19-10, 13-3 AE) defeated Albany (15-13, 8-7 AE) by a score of 62-55 Wednesday evening at the RAC Arena to claim its first-ever America East regular-season title. The win is the sixth straight for the Retrievers, who will be the top seed in next weekend’s America East Championship in West Hartford, Conn., and will face the winner of the first-round game between Stony Brook and Maine on Friday, March 4.
UMBC will host the conference title game on Saturday, March 12, should they reach that contest. In addition, Wednesday’s victory guarantees UMBC a postseason appearance in either the NCAA Tournament or Women’s National Invitation Tournament.

The Department of Theatre presents GRRL PARTS, a continuing project directed by Susan McCully to commission major American playwrights to create new roles for actresses. GRRL PARTS features three plays of young women-- sisters, wives, mothers and lovers--bound together by desires and destinies beyond their control. The domestic becomes epic and the personal poetic in these tales of support and betrayal among women.

UMBC Recognized as "Best Value College" by Princeton Review

The honor is the third major national distinction UMBC has received from leading higher-education rankings publications this academic year. For the second year in a row, UMBC was named America’s #1 “Up-and-Coming” national university by U.S. News & World Report’s Best Colleges Guide. The University was also included on Kiplinger’s Best Value Public Colleges list.
The Princeton Review recognizes UMBC, a research university with nearly 13,000 students, for attracting serious students and supporting them with undergraduate research opportunities throughout the Baltimore-Washington region and beyond.
