Job Summary:
The University of Maryland School of Law is seeking a creative, energetic, and customer-oriented individual to design, develop, and maintain specialized databases and web-based applications for its school and library websites. A redesign of the websites is currently in progress and this individual will provide technical support for their future development and maintenance. This position reports to the Director of Information Policy and Management.

Essential Functions:
• Provides technical support for the maintenance of web pages for the school. Assists the Director of Information Policy and Management with planning and development of website architecture and strategies, and implements new technologies and applications.

• Uses expertise in latest technology, techniques, and tools to implement effective interactive and transactional sites.

• Uses contemporary programming languages to design and implement databases, forms, and other functionality to enhance utility of web environments.

• Designs, develops, supports, and maintains web-based databases and other specialized applications used by departments in the law school and library.

• Uses tools and technologies to make academic and business applications web accessible.

• Develops, implements, and supports current and emerging technologies for the law school including, for example, collaborative environments, multimedia applications, and distance technologies.

• Provides technical support for current web page authoring and maintenance environment. Administers website management tools and produces reports such as link checking and web log statistics. Assists with planning for and implementation of a content management system.

• Assists with development of user instructional materials and other documentation as needed. Assists with training for faculty, students, and staff.

• Maintains professional growth by participating in educational programs and activities to ensure knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments.

Requirements:
At least 4 years appropriate education, creative talents, strong desire to learn and work on web projects, some web programming experience desirable. Bachelor’s degree with Master’s degree and/or additional certification are preferred.

Must be proficient in HTML, DHTML, CSS, XML, and one or more scripting languages. Knowledge of database programming required. Knowledge of ASP, Dreamweaver, Access, SQL server, and Flash programming preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and students.

Salary is competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidates who are selected for interviews will be asked to do a 15 minute presentation on a web-based project they have designed.
