My professional interests include:
-
Identifying characteristics, knowledge, or skills that indicate a student’s level of preparedness for undergraduate science coursework, and recommending appropriate support measures for poorly prepared students.
-
Exploring the interaction between teaching method and student learning style, identifying strategies and supplemental materials that may help a student overcome a mismatch between his/her preferred learning style and an instructor’s predominant teaching method.
-
Developing and teaching an “Introduction to an Honors University” seminar specifically designed to aid new first-time and transfer Life Sciences majors with their adjustment to the academic and extracurricular environments that they will encounter in their first semester at UMBC.
-
Providing appropriate support for students in Poor Academic Standing and other "at-risk" student populations.
