Full-size lockers are available for rental on a semester or annual basis and are located in the RAC Gymnasium Locker Room and in the Poolside Locker Room. RAC Gymnasium Locker rental includes complimentary towel service and lock. To rent a locker or for additional information, see the attendant at the Equipment Issue Desk (RAC 120). Half-size lockers are available for use on a daily basis at no charge, as long as the lock is removed by the end of the day. Locks left on over night will be removed. Users must supply their own locks. Mini-Lockers are available for 25 cents to store smaller valuables like wallets, keys, and cell phones. These lockers are located adjacent to the locker rooms on the RAC Gymnasium Level.
Towel service may be purchased as a separate service, without locker rental. Towel service can be purchased on a semester or annual basis. To purchase towel service or for additional information, see the attendant at the Equipment Issue Desk (RAC 120). Costs for the 2007-2008 academic year are listed below:

A variety of equipment is available at the equipment issue desk (RAC 120) for daily use. Equipment can be checked out to current students, faculty/staff, and RAC Members when they present valid UMBC/UMB or RAC Membership ID card.
The ID is returned when the equipment is checked in. A late fee of $2.00 per day is assessed for equipment not returned that same day. Lost or damaged equipment will be billed at the replacement cost to the student. s account. The following items are available for same day use only:

  • Badminton Rackets and Shuttles
  • Jump Ropes
  • Volleyballs
  • Outdoor Volleyball Systems
  • Tug-o-war Rope
  • Basketballs
  • Tennis Rackets
  • Indoor Soccer Balls
  • Footballs
  • Weight Training Belts (distributed through the weight room)

Some playing equipment for intramural contests will be supplied by the Office of Rec Sports. Personal equipment such as gloves, cleats, and clothing are not provided. In addition, many individual and dual sports, require that individuals supply their own equipment. Please refer to the specific sports information section.

The RAC Gymnasium is capable of hosting indoor tennis. RAC users can reserve one-hour slots during the following scheduled times:
Saturday 12pm - 3pm
Sunday 12pm - 3pm

Reservations can be made up to one day in advance. Anyone interested in reserving court times can stop by or call the RAC Front Desk at 410-455-8888.
It is strongly recommended that anyone who wishes to use the Weight Room should first go through a weight room orientation. If you are interested in Orientation please call (410) 455-1546 or stop by ask the attnedant in the RAC Weight Room
All valid RAC users, are eligible to sponsor up to two guests per day. Guest passes can be purchased at the RAC Front Desk during regular hours of operation (cash only). There is a $2.00 charge for guests age 12 and under and a $5.00 charge for guests over the age of 13. Guests are permitted to use all facilities with the exceptions of guests 16 & under who are not permitted in the weight room. Sponsors must accompany their guests in the facilities at all times and are responsible for their guests.
Located in the front lobby of the Retriever Activities Center, the RAC Pro Shop is your one stop shop for all UMBC Retrievers Athletic apparel. We offer a wide array of clothing from t-shirts and hats to sweatshirts and jackets with the insignias of all 20 UMBC athletic teams.
