Judith R. Cohen, Esperança Bonet Roig, Manel Frau

 


Judith R. Cohen (left), born in Montreal, Canada, received her Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology, and M.A. in Medieval Studies from the Université de Montréal. She is well-known as a performer and researcher of Sephardic and related music, and for her work on Crypto-Jewish musical life in Portugal. Currently, she is the General Editor of the Spanish Recordings of the Alan Lomax Collection, and teaches part-time at York University, Toronto.  www.yorku.ca/judithc

Esperança Bonet Roig (right), born and raised in Ibiza, is the Guest Editor of the Ibiza and Formentera recordings of the Alan Lomax Collection.  A Spokesperson for Traditional Culture at the Consell Insular d’Eivissa i Formentera, she has been active all her life in the study and promotion of Pityusan customs, traditions, language, history, and environmental conservation.

Manel Frau, born in Mallorca, is a musician and composer, and Guest Editor of the Mallorca CD of the Alan Lomax Collection. A graduate of the Conservatory Professional de Musica de Balears, he holds an M.A. in Semitic Philology (Universitat Central de Barcelona), and a B.A. in Catalan Philology (Universitat de les Illes Balears). Currently, he is Assistant Librarian for Jewish Religious Texts at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College in Philadelphia.
