the Atlantic World-In this course we will
investigate slavery and resistance to it
in the Atlantic world. We will look at
the development of racial slavery in the
Caribbean and the Americas, day-to-day
resistance, the gendered nature of
slavery, maroons and guerilla warfare,
slave conspiracies and rebellions, the
American and Haitian revolutions, and
abolitionism and emancipation.

Century Baltimore Legal History

will meet at the Law School. The seminar
considers landmark legal cases and
controversies as a means for examining the
social, political and economic forces
shaping Baltimore in the twentieth
century. Issues include segregation,
annexation, suburbanization, and
industrialization, as well as city
planning, port development, criminal
justice, social services, and education.
Classes will be held at 500 W. Baltimore
Street, Baltimore MD 21201, 5:25-7:25 pm
