Communication: Bridging the Blockade
between the US and Cuba.

intersections of communication, culture,
and U.S. and Cuban societies within s
within a framework of global digital
communications. We will explore the unique
challenges and opportunities in the public
sphere of the internet for intercultural
communication, collaborative knowledge
production and people-to-people exchange
in the face of over four decades of the
U.S. trade and travel embargo.
Participants in the course will conduct
research thatexplores cultural and social
issues of concern to both Cuban and U.S.
people and how they are expressed,
represented and contested in the Web 2.0
environment. Students will develop a new
media project as part of their research.
