Wireless Networking
| This course offers a detailed look into the world of wireless networking from the standards and transmission techniques that define current technology to the design and implementation of wireless communication systems. Using case studies, vendor solutions, text materials, and other resources, students are presented with the specific components and configurations that comprise today’s wireless PAN, LAN, MAN, and WAN networks. Working in project teams, students participate in all phases of the wireless network design and implementation process, including planning, communications needs analysis, site surveys, transmission requirements determination, equipment selection, network installation and configuration, and the integration of wireless networks into enterprise communication systems. Students also investigate the operation, maintenance, management and security of wireless networks. Prerequisite: IS 450 or permission from the instructor.
